About Darryl Rosen (In my own words)

What types of people do you help:

Rose Advisory Group serves Middle-Income people in their 50’s and 60’s who plan to retire within the next 10 – 15 years. We do so because people like you have been underserved by the financial community. You’ve been diligent and worked hard to accumulate savings, but have been left largely on your own to create a workable retirement strategy.

Where I went to school:

I earned a B.A. from Indiana University in Accounting ('88) and a Masters Degree from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management in Marketing and Organizational Behavior ('97) Incidentally, when my boys began applying to college, one of them said, "Wait, you went to that Northwestern?” (I'd have been offended, but I couldn't stop laughing...) I’m brighter than they think!

Where I've been all these years:

This is wholly unrelated, but my family operated Sam’s Wines & Spirits, the highest revenue-grossing, single-store beverage retailer in the country. Under my direction, our excellent team won two National Retailer of the Year awards. That's big stuff in the biz and I'm proud of that! I sold the company almost 14 years ago.

How did I get from helping people select the ideal wine to helping them plan their ideal retirement:

Well, once upon a time...in a land far, far away...Never mind, please watch the video below!

This was Sam's in the 70's or 80's. It was in this dilapidated building that my father and grandfather earned a national reputation for their fine wine selection. That may seem odd considering the state of this building, but there was quite a wine cellar below. It was the beginning of a great run!

WHY (1)

So that's my motivation: To prevent you from having regrets. Frank Sinatra has “Regrets, but then again, too few to mention!” I have regrets but I want to mention them. I need to make mention because it’s why I do this work!

Do I take myself seriously:

Does it seem so? Seriously, though, you will find that I am deadly serious about SECURiMENT™, but not deadly serious the rest of the time. If we've learned anything during the pandemic, it's that life is too short.

That's not the only thing I learned during the pandemic:

Though my family and those close to me maintained our health, this period of time has reinforced the importance of simplicity. For health reasons we've been 1) Keeping distance, 2) Washing our hands and 3) Wearing a mask.

Not 10 behaviors to keep in mind but just 3 easy actions. We can do the same with your retirement plan.

Just...

1) Protect your nest egg

2) Create multiple streams of income (cash flow)

3) Pay less Income tax.

You say you're deadly serious about this strange word - SECURiMENT™. What is SECURiMENT™:

SECURiMENT™ is my proprietary process for people like you who seek a comprehensive retirement strategy, so that your next chapter is free of regrets. With SECURiMENT™ - the guidance will always be easy-to understand, the strategies will always be proven, and we’ll always protect your assets.  Think - Secure Retirement!

We feel that at this stage in your life, you probably have what you need and hopefully – much of what you want.  The goal of SECURiMENT™ is simply to keep it that way.  Please watch this short video! (1:11)

Does SECURiMENT™ also hold one's dentures in place:

I was asked that once! I said, "No John, SECURiMENT™ doesn't hold your teeth in, it holds your future together!

Are you one of those guys who automatically suggest changes to a retirement strategy just to make money:

No, many people are doing just fine and when I see that, I tell them so! My overarching goal when meeting you for the first time is to either...

1) To prevent you from making unnecessary changes when you have a solid strategy and are best served by staying put. Or,

2) To liberate you by highlighting any gaps in a plan or providing new insights to facilitate a stronger retirement approach.

By the way, I have created a tool called the Retirement Comfort™ Predictor. It takes about 3 minutes and you can do that here. (Immediately after - you'll be able to see how you compare to others.)

Are you any fun, Darryl:

I used to run marathons but now I get tired before the end of the driveway! Other than that, I have no bucket list and I’m afraid of rollercoasters. Oh yeah, I also go to bed early.  Once, before speaking to 300 people, a company CEO referred to me as quirky but effective. I wanted to argue but...I think he had my number!

Do I have any licenses and professional certifications:

I have my series 65 securities license so I'm licensed to provide guidance on securities. I've also achieved the highly desired Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) designation. As evidenced by my certification, I focus not only on asset accumulation, but also on the de-accumulation of assets and creating a sustainable livelihood for clients in retirement. I also use insurance-related solutions when necessary.

What my wife Jill often tells me:

Nobody gets my sense of humor or cares to. (Maybe she’s right!)

Something that gives me pride:

That I’ve written 8 critically-acclaimed (by my family...) business and investing books and I basically failed English in High School. (And College...)

What I’m more proud of than the books and that whole SECURiMENT™ thing:

My family! Jill and I have been together since high school. She was the first girl to smile at me in High School so I married her. She runs the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry and I’m so very proud of her. My Oldest son Josh (left) is an airline pilot. He began flying when he was 14. He’s 25 now, and an American Eagle Captain. Danny (center) recently graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Computer Science.

He works in software technology at Capital One in Chicago. Ben (right) studies computer science at the University of Illinois and has an internship at Apple Computer (Summer, 2021). Yes, one day all the boys will have degrees from Illinois. Guess you could say my donation paid off. KIDDING! Truly, I'm a lucky guy!
